Peter Craig Dutton (born 18 November 1970 - ) is an Australian Liberal politician, current Australian House of Representatives Opposition Leader and leader of the Australian Liberal Party.

Dutton has been a member of the Australian House of Representatives for the Australian Liberal Party since 2001, representing the Division of Dickson constituency in Queensland. He was re-elected five times. On 18 September 2013, Dutton became Minister for Health and Sport. On 21 December 2014, he became Minister for Migration in the Department of Immigration and Border Protection under Tony Abbott's government, a position he held under Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. From 20 December 2017 he was Minister of the Interior. After trying unsuccessfully to replace Malcolm Turnbull as party leader, he resigned from his ministerial post on 21 August 2018. In the intra-party contest vote on 21 August 2018, Dutton received 35 votes and Turnbull received 48 votes. After that contest, he was nominated by the new party leader and Prime Minister Scott Morrison to serve as the Minister of Home Affairs again, and then transferred to the Minister of Defense in March 2021.

In May 2022, former Prime Minister and party leader Scott Morrison announced his resignation after the Liberal Party lost the federal election. Dutton was elected as the new Liberal leader on May 30 and accordingly became the leader of the Parliamentary Opposition.
