Douglas MacArthur

Douglas MacArthur (26 January 1880 in Little Rock, Arkansas - 5 April 1964 in Washington, D.C.) was a career officer in the United States Army. He was a brigadier general during the First World War and became a General of the Army (USA) in the Second World War. With Admiral Chester W. Nimitz he was Commander-in-Chief in the Pacific War. After the end of the war he was in supreme command during the occupation of Japan. He commanded the United Nations peacekeeping force during the Korean War until his discharge on 11 April 1951. He is one of the most decorated soldiers in the United States Armed Forces.
