Increase Mather (21 June 1639 in Dorchester, Massachusetts Bay Colony - 23 August 1723 in Boston, Province of Massachusetts Bay) was a Puritan minister. He played a politically significant role in the history of the colony that would become the state of Massachusetts, and was also in the leadership of Harvard College during the Salem witch trials.
