Henry Ford (30 July 1863 in Greenfield Township, Wayne County, Michigan - 7 April 1947 in Dearborn, Michigan) was an American inventor and automobile pioneer. He founded the automobile manufacturer Ford Motor Company. He consistently perfected assembly line production in automobile construction, which Ransom Eli Olds had already anticipated in a simplified form in his automobile company Oldsmobile in 1902. His concept of modern vehicle manufacturing not only revolutionized industrial production, but also had a strong influence on modern culture (Fordism). In addition to this pioneering work for automobile manufacture, Ford was as advocate for pacifism, particularly during the first years of the First World War.
