John Winston Howard OM AC (born 26 July 1939 in Sydney) was the 25th Prime Minister of Australia. From 1995 to 2007 he was the leader of the Liberal Party of Australia. He was first elected to office on 11 March 1996 and re-elected three times, but was defeated by Australian Labor Party challenger Kevin Rudd in 2007. His term of office ended on 3 December 2007.
