John Wayne (26 May 1907 Winterset, Iowa - 11 June 1979 Los Angeles, California; born Marion Robert Morrison, later renamed Marion Mitchell Morrison), nicknamed Duke, was an American film actor. He was one of the most influential, successful and best-paid Hollywood actors of his time.
